Saxonia Express 2009

Whilst on passage from New Orleans to Caucedo the Saxonia Express received a distress message from a Yacht 'perfect Pride' which had been de-masted and also suffered an engine breakdown.

The Saxonia Express answered the distress and relayed the mayday message to USCG San Juan. The Saxonia Express proceeded to the casualty position and stood by the yacht until the USCG were able to respond with vessel suitable to take the yacht into tow.

The USCG wrote to Capt Tsonev and said "The actions of the captain and crew of the Saxonia Express are in keeping with time honoroed traditions of mariners assisting those in peril at sea."
